SCHOLARSHIPS
SCHOLARSHIPS
are offered in a variety of types. They may be based on ability, test scores, GPA, and/or need. Scholarships are also offered at different levels. Examples are local, state or national, college/university, and by subject matter or by grade level. They may be public or privately sponsored and each scholarship opportunity establishes its own unique criteria. Scholarships may be a one time gift or they may be renewable.
One vital thing to remember is that all scholarships and award programs have certain
DEADLINES
! Most opportunities will not give you extra time, so make note of due dates.
SENIORS
need to remember that many scholarships are offered to those students enrolled in a specific study or institution. Many colleges reserve scholarships to students who enter their sophomore, junior or senior year of a declared major, or are working towards an advanced degree. Keep looking, even when you begin your college years.
* As scholarships come in each year, they will be listed in the district newsletter, as well as being announced at school and posted here. There are many websites designed for scholarship matching- some may not be advantageous.
* There are a few scholarships and programs that are open to juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Some are listed as competitions and may offer certificates, awards or monetary gifts within the legal guidelines for students.
* Please stop by the Guidance office and work with us in order to explore all of the opportunities that may be of interest to you.
